My career started with a foundation in psychology as an undergraduate, but life demands took me in a business direction. A Masters in Administration with a healthcare business focus allowed me to enjoy a 20+ year career. It was a demanding but fulfilling career. As a mid-level healthcare executive, I managed challenging but rewarding operations, always with a focus on building thriving teams.
I was also a wife and mother. Life was extremely busy, but completely wonderful. A “good busy” I often liked to say. I worked hard at being present for my kids and family, intentionally leaving work at work, hoping to never miss a moment of family time.
Then, the unthinkable happened.
My life and world changed in literal moments when my daughter was killed. Our family lost our precious daughter, but we also lost a part of our innocence. Ripped apart by grief, the family we had worked hard to build was forever shattered. I could no longer imagine a world where happiness and joy existed, or even could exist. The pain was so deep that there was only darkness.
Coupled with that was unprocessed trauma and abuse from my own childhood. Building a successful life, I felt that I had finally made it. However, the fresh trauma of loss in the present made it impossible for me to outrun the demons of the past. All of it came flooding in, and managing life became impossible.
Today, I have been able to return to a good and purpose filled life. Life is again a “good busy”. Through commitment to self and positive change, I once again have a fulfilling, rewarding and purpose driven life. This change came with hard work, faith, and rebuilding.
It is with great passion that I know great things are possible for others too. It was my healing journey that drove me to creating a path for others to heal. To walk beside you in your journey is an honor.
